FAQs

  • What happens if I move?

Solar adds value to your home and the system can typically be transferred to the new homeowner. If you own your system, it can increase resale value. If it's financed, most providers allow easy transfer with lender approval.

  • What if my usage changes after install?

We can adjust your system later if needed. If your usage increases (EV, hot tub, etc.), add-on panels are easy. If it drops, your utility may credit you for the extra power—ask about current buyback rates in your area.

  • I just moved in. What if I don’t know my usage yet?

No problem. We use historical energy data and averages based on your home size, orientation, and local utility rates to estimate your usage and design your system accordingly.

  • How do I get the solar tax credit?

Purchasing your solar system makes you eligible for the federal solar tax credit (currently 30%). This credit reduces your income taxes owed. For leases or PPAs, the provider usually keeps the credit and gives you a lower monthly rate.

  • Can I finance solar with no money down?

Yes! Most homeowners qualify for $0-down financing, whether through a loan, lease, or PPA. We’ll help you compare the best fit for your home, credit, and goals.

  • Do I need to replace my roof first?

Not always. We’ll assess your roof’s condition during the site evaluation. If it needs replacement, we can coordinate it or include it in your financing so you’re not stuck paying out-of-pocket.

  • Will solar damage my roof?

No. When installed by certified professionals, solar can actually help protect your roof from the elements. Leaks are extremely rare—and often related to poor roof condition before install, not the panels themselves.

  • Will solar still work during a power outage?

Only if you have a battery backup. Grid-tied solar systems shut off during outages for safety. Add a battery (like Tesla Powerwall or Enphase) to keep essentials running when the grid is down. Depending on the state we also recommend backup generators as a cost effective backup option for those with high usage.

  • How long will my solar system last?

Most solar systems last 30–35+ years. Over time, panels may degrade slightly, but you’ll still produce energy. Many warranties cover 25 years or more for production and materials.

  • What happens if there’s a hailstorm?

Solar panels are tested to withstand harsh weather—including hail. Most panels are rated to endure impact from 1-inch hailstones at high speeds. If you're in a hail-prone area, we can recommend reinforced panel options and review insurance coverage with you.

  • What kind of maintenance does solar require?

Very little. There are no moving parts. Occasional rinsing or a professional cleaning is enough in dusty regions. Most systems include real-time monitoring to alert us to any issues.

  • How do I know I’m getting the best deal?

We shop the best options for you—so you don’t have to. Instead of locking you into one installer or one loan, we compare multiple quotes and financing plans to build the solar solution that makes the most sense for your home, goals, and budget.

Now the real question — what could solar save you?
